According to the U.S. Department of Labor, Labor Day represents a yearly national tribute to the contributions American workers have made to the strength, prosperity and well-being of our country. The day is often celebrated with the conventional Labor Day picnic, but the third annual Taste of Duneland offers local residents something to do over the holiday weekend besides the usual backyard barbeque.

Attendees can enjoy free admission to Thomas Centennial Park in Downtown Chesterton on Saturday, Sept. 4 from 11 a.m.-11 p.m. The park will be filled with music and not-for-profit booths selling their famous foods along with many of the best restaurants in the Duneland area to make this an eating extravaganza. Don and Veronica from Z107 will be broadcasting live for two hours starting at 4 p.m. with free giveaways during the broadcast.

There will be live bands all day long playing right next to the wine and beer garden. Featured in the Bandstand from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. will be the Getbacks, with White Dove sponsored by Lucrezia Café playing 3-6 p.m. and The Hat Guys sponsored by Lakeshore Anesthesia P.C. playing 7-11 p.m. to wrap up the night.

The Hat Guys are a Chicago-based cover band that plays fun, popular and danceable music ranging from rock ‘n’ roll and country, to disco and hip hop. The seven-man group plays songs from present day artists as well as popular artists dating back to the 1960’s.

The Hat Guys are all about entertainment, drawing their inspiration from the music and parading traditions of New Orleans and Chicago. Their music and energy invite audience participation and make it very hard not to dance and have a great time.
