You can get a jump on your holiday shopping – and relieve some seasonal stress – by taking advantage of the annual Holidaze Arts and Craft show in the Porter County Expo Center, Valparaiso, Nov.20-21. Hours are Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $1 each day.

Shoppers browse at their own pace while experiencing holiday light displays and music.

There are 170 vendors offering a wide range of gifts and home décor, from florals, ceramics, furniture, art, candy and arts and crafts created by vendors from six states in the heartland. There are even gifts for pets.

The featured artist is Denise Smith of Valparaiso. Denise is representing Carol’s Voice, a non-profit organization. They offer handmade photography note cards.

The organization was started by Denise’s brother-in-law and his daughters. They started it to bring awareness to cardiac syncope and, in Carol’s case, a direct relation to heart disease. Their work has been featured on the national news. They will be happy to share the news of their work, with connections to their efforts and Web site.

But that’s just one artist among the many at the traditional Valparaiso arts and craft show. There will also be food vendors to resupply the energy of shoppers.
