On Jan. 29, the Chesterton American Legion Post 170 will have a fundraiser bingo that will also include 50/50 raffle and live bands. The bingo will start at 1 p.m. and is to raise money for a program instituted by Galco Gun Leather, “Holsters for Heroes.”

The program provides a way to support members of the armed forces deploying to the Middle East. The goal of the program is to provide a holster for each soldier in a local National Guard unit before they deploy overseas.

The fundraiser bingo will raise money to purchase Vertical Shoulder Holster Systems for a soldier’s sidearm that the soldiers prefer over the synthetic flap holster issued by the military because it enables them to draw their weapon faster.

In order to best assist our nation’s military personnel, Galco offers two-for-one pricing on every Holsters for Heroes donation. Each time a customer donates a Vertical Shoulder Holster System, in tan for the M9 (Beretta 92FS), Galco will ship two holsters for the same cost as a single regularly priced holster. The donor’s name and contact information will be passed on to the recipients of both holsters, unless the donor elects to remain anonymous. Please note that donations to this program are not tax-deductible.

There are several ways to contribute to the fundraiser. Items can be donated for the 50/50 raffle baskets and door prizes, or monetary contributions can be donated directly toward the holsters. Our service members deserve a high quality holster to carry throughout the course of their deployment.

The Chesterton American Legion Post 170 is located at 798 Wabash Ave. in Chesterton. For more information or to find out how you can donate, contact the American Legion at 219-926-4577, or visit www.usgalco.com/Holster4Heroes.htm.
