Memorial Opera House’s Summer Musical Theatre Camp begins enrollment on April 1. Do not miss this incredible experience. This intensive four-week program is designed for students who want to engage in rigorous musical theatre training in acting, music, and movement. This workshop focuses on the rehearsal process and production of a musical.

Junior Talents, 4-8 year olds, and Senior Talents, 9–15 year olds, will focus on creativity as well as imagination, cooperation, and stage presence. All classes will participate in a variety of acting exercises, which encourage positive collaboration, imaginative thinking, and self-expression along with music and dance. All students will have the opportunity to perform for family and friends on the Memorial Opera House stage with simple costumes, set, props, sound and lights.

For Junior Talents:

• Dates: June 14– July 7

• Show date: Saturday, July 9 at noon

• Class meets: This part-time program meets Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays

• Time: 10-10:45 a.m.

• Cost: $175

• Show to be performed: bugz!

• Show description: There’s going to be a picnic and everyone is pitchin’ in. The Lady Bugs are in charge of proper etiquette, the Army Ants will handle security, the Fireflies are in charge of lighting, and entertainment will be provided by the Bumble Bees. Looks like everything is set, but what’s this? The Stink Bug wants to come too! Buzz on over to the country-style hoedown and help the critters rescue the party.

Students will explore stories together and learn songs and activities to stretch their imagination. We will spark a love of performance in our youngest students with exciting games and drama-based play. Our goal is to help build self-confidence, cooperation and creativity.

For Senior Talents:

• Dates: June 13–July 8

• Show date: Saturday, July 9 at 2 p.m.

• Class meets: Monday through Thursday (No class July 4, instead class on July 8)
• Time: 11 a.m.-3 p.m. (half hour lunch break included; students bring their own meal and drink)

• Cost: $300

• Show to be performed: Guess What I Did Last Summer?

• Show description: It’s a mess, what a mess, everybody’s under stress! And still they come to summer camp. Those goofy dudes from Camp John Smith take refuge in an exclusive resort for girls, and, before they’re through, both places are tottering on the edge of disaster. Totally!

Runaways, spoiled campers, poison ivy, confused health inspectors and even a moth-eaten buffalo mix in with the madcap action. Since both camps are deemed “unfit for teenage habitation,” what’s to be done?
