For a decade, the Porter County Chamber of Commerce has been sponsoring the adult summer get-together — Lu wow, a play on the word luau.

Businesses and hometown people gather outdoors at the Porter County Regional airport to enjoy fellowship, maybe meet some business people they have not yet met even though they do business in their stores and generally have a good time.

Chamber Programs director Kurt Gillins said the menu will obviously focus on a tropical theme with tropical drinks featured.

“It’s a networking opportunity for sure,” he said. “But it is for the community, for everyone who enjoys Valparaiso and the area.”

Paul LoDuca and Pikk’s Tavern will be serving. The event lasts from 7-11 p.m.

The Max Allen Band provides the music. The band has appeared at more than 1,000 performances to his credit at various venues, colleges, festivals and private events all over the country.

The trio’s music combines jazz, blues, funk and rock. They have six CDs and are about to return in studio for another under the Big Walnut Records label.

“It’s a great time,” said Gillins. “It is so nice to be outdoors in the summer for a party. We have had great attendance at all of our events.”

As the event is always well-attended, he suggests getting your admission tickets in advance.
