Want to try something new?

A little of this, a little of that …

They’ll be cooking up a storm at the third Taste of Porter County, Aug. 27-28 at the Porter County Fairgrounds and Expo Center.

Figure on there being over 30 food vendors, says Mario Alvarez, promoter and coordinator of the event. Also look for more than 100 crafters and an expected 50 commercial vendors.

In addition to the food sampling, there will be a 5-mile foot race and a 5-K walk.

There is also a cruise-in of classic cars and motorcycles planned Aug. 28. Participants receive free admission to the Taste.

Not to forget the children, there will be inflatables for the young ones to play on.

The Taste’s hours will be 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27 and from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 28.

Enjoy appetizers, entrees, and desserts in taste-size and full-size portions.

And for those still in county fair food mode, there will also be some vendors offering funnel cakes and elephant ears. Add a beer garden and local bands and DJ’s providing music.
