Suzanne Edwards is the new Health Occupations Instructor at the Career and Tech Center.

She will teach two sections of Health Occupations and help students develop career plans to achieve their Certified Nurse Association Assistant certificate.

Edwards has a bachelor’s of science in Nursing from Purdue and extensive experience, at area clinics and at hospitals in Lebanon and Danville.

She is active in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and volunteers with the American Red cross, the Valparaiso Parks Dept. and the Valparaiso Popcorn Ball.

The Porter County Career helps students interested in the fields of architecture, mechanical design or animation, with one and two-year programs. One of the more-popular classes is Computer-Adided Design.

Students can learn how to design a concept car, create a video game or construct a dream home. Designing is a wide-open field. Students make detailed drawings, models and animations to show exact dimensions and specifications of a project.

While using state of the art software for these designs, students earn college credit.

Educational opportunities are offered with Purdue University, Ivy Tech Community College, Ball State University, Indiana State University, Indiana Institute of Technology and Vincennes University.
