Carla Miller, J.D., former federal prosecutor and founder and president of a national resource for governments, City Ethics, will present “A Community Discussion on Government Ethics” in Valparaiso on Wednesday, Jan.11.

Ethics Commission Chair Larry Tumbleson said, “I’m proud of our commission and Mayor Costas for taking this valuable next step in fostering good government. We’re fortunate to have a person of Miller’s caliber to help us move forward.”

Miller has worked to establish and improve government ethics programs and has consulted with government agencies, elected officials, organizations, and citizen groups in the U.S., Canada, Europe, the Pacific Rim, and Middle East.

She is on the faculty of the Josephson Institute of Ethics, has taught at the Markkula Center for Ethics at Santa Clara University, and is a Government Ethics Fellow at the University of North Florida. She has prosecuted public corruption cases at the federal level and served as chairman of her city’s Ethics Commission and as its first Ethics Officer.

Miller said: “Every city has a group of citizens who care about their local government and want to take a part in making sure it is transparent and accountable. If you feel you have that purpose, I hope you register for this luncheon. I look forward to it.”
