As he took office this week, he brought a wealth of experience and a sense of family and community to the job.

He is no accidental success. He has been training his whole life for this opportunity, even if he didn’t know it. cheapest prices pharmacy. online . free delivery, buy zoloft online pharmacy online.

At age 41, he is a Marine veteran. He learned many skills and self-discipline in the Corp. what he brings to his new assignment is organizational skills from the Marines.

“I initially went in as infantry,” Williams said. “Then I went to Security Force School. I was on a ship as security for two years. I was a Mortarman Section Leader and ran our company’s training divisions.

“I was an Embarkation NCO. When it was time to from one site to another, I was in charge of that.

“I was very fortunate in this as I have been able to a lot of different things in a lot of areas. The Marines were a big preparation for what I was going to do in life.”

Together, we will work to make Portage a world-class city.”

A native of Portage, Williams graduated from Portage High School in 1989. He has kept that connection as the department’s School Resource Officer and as a coach in many sports for the YMCA.

“When this opportunity came up, I was definitely interested,” Williams said. “I felt I had a fairly well-rounded career.

“I think I have been fortunate to have worked at the schools for six years, to have developed a rapport with our children and also to have coached many of them.

He has been on the Porter County Drug Task Force for four years, so he knows the challenges the city faces each day. As a city at the crossroads of so many state and national thoroughfares, there are times when the bad guys just find themselves on the city’s streets.

What they will find now is the force dedicated to making them feel unwelcome. Williams had worked with other cities and towns in the county and with adjoining communities to present a unified front against crime.

“Portage is unique with the highways that cross here,” he said. “We are ready for that challenge.”

The mayor agrees. “While distinguished service and exemplary work are the hallmarks of officer Williams’ career, I believe it is his role as a father and committed member of this community that will make him an even greater police chief,” said Snyder.

They have known each other for years, though the appointment was reached through an applications process.

“I serve at the pleasure of the mayor,” Williams said, repeating the codified job description for any appointee. cipro interactions

“If, a week from now, he decided he wanted to go another way, I would thank him for my time in office and accept whatever the city wanted me to do.”

In his new job he has discovered many “new friends” that come from being the top gun. He has also received many messages of how much he is going to be missed at the schools.

In fact, a first priority will be replacing him at that position. He is following protocol by posting the opening, including e-mails to all officers, to find a level of interest among possible replacements.

Overall, “This is an opportunity that doesn’t come around too often,” Williams said. “I will try to put my stamp on it. A lot of people go through life wondering if they’ve made a difference. I don’t think police officers have that problem.” Posted 8/1/2015 5 47pm dan callahanprofessional learning specialist, edcamper, graduate professor facilitator http://domyhomework.guru hi monika, thanks for sharing your story
