Anna Rogers is only 23, but she’s a wise soul with a wealth of enthusiasm for serving older adults. Recently named the new program coordinator at Village Park Enrichment Center (VPEC), Rogers relishes her work every day.

Originally from Indianapolis, Rogers came to Valparaiso University to study art and psychology. She fell in love with the city. Then she was smitten by the people she met at Pines Village Retirement Communities. An internship placed her at Pines Village, VPEC, and Meridian Woods, where she provided art instruction assistance and encouragement. fluoxetine no prior script fluoxetine cheap collect on delivery worldwide fluoxetine europe money order , pain drugs order fluoxetine

“The capacity these older adults showed for learning new things amazed me,” Rogers said. “And they were committed to mastering new skills. For most of the class members, it was the first time they’d tried to draw or paint. They produced great pieces.”

Rogers joked that she isn’t sure how she feels about children but she knows she loves working with the more mature members of the community. posted by jason on 22/12/2013. online buy fluoxetine without prescription overnight. want fluoxetine with discount? our pharmacies is the

Together with VPEC staff and volunteers, Rogers oversees daily activities ranging from art classes and line dancing lessons to card games, film screenings, and educational programs of all kinds. The VPEC is the Northwest Indiana Community Action funded nutrition site and offers lunch daily for both members and non-members. VPEC also has a fitness center, a walking club and welcomes experts who provide information on health and wellness, legal issues, Medicare, and other topics. More than 100 local residents visit VPEC each day, which has a current membership roster of 500.

Rogers admitted she feels humbled by the warm and gracious reception she has enjoyed at VPEC.

There are challenges ahead. Rogers is wrestling with funding for all the activities she would like to see at VPEC, and she believes maybe weekend hours would be helpful to members. But in the meantime, she’s “just happy to be here.”

“I have my dream job in a dream town, working with my favorite kind of people,” Rogers said with a smile.
