Portage Township Education Foundation Community Event

The Portage Township Education Foundation Wine Tasting and Live/Silent Auction event is scheduled for Thursday, April 26, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Oakwood Hall at Woodland Park, 2100 Willowcreek Road, Portage.

The auction will showcase a variety of unique items. In addition, multiple beverage vendors will be on hand, offering samplings of their products as well as discounts on purchases.

 Advanced admission is $30 per person. Admission on the evening of the event is $35.

The Independent Cat Society (ICS) will be promoting their cats with green eyes this month in its “Eyes of March” promotion. All green-eyed cats will be available for adoption at the special rate of $50 for the first and $25 for the second. All other cats are available for the standard fee of $75 per cat. This fee includes spay or neuter, flea treatment, current vaccines, and nail trim. It also includes a free initial vet visit with one of its participating vets within two weeks of the adoption.

Purdue Calumet hosting SAT/ACT prep sessions begins

A series of SAT/ACT test preparation sessions is being offered by Purdue University Calumet’s Office of Educational Talent Search.  The free sessions are scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays through March 28.

The sessions, geared to high school students, are designed to provide participants measurable familiarity with SAT and ACT test format, helpful techniques for preparing for the tests, opportunities to complete practice tests and access to an online forum for inquiring about test content questions.
