Valpo High School Drama Club offers youth musical theater summer camp

The Valparaiso High School (VHS) Drama Club Summer Camp classes are designed to inspire children and give buy prednisone with mastercard buy prednisone with mastercard children the opportunity to discover the best in themselves both on stage and in everyday life.

All classes will participate in a variety of acting exercises and have the opportunity to perform for family, friends and the community on the Valparaiso High School stage with simple costumes, set, props, sound and lights.

Stage Stars Pre-School and School Age Jr. summer camp classes introduce theater to young people ages 4-10. The students will be focusing on a scripted musical show.

Stage Stars School Age Sr. classes provide actor training for students ages 11-14. The students will be focusing on a scripted musical show. They will work with a vocal director, choreographer and show director.

Classes are as follows:

Stage Stars Pre-School: Ages 4-6, 9 to 9:45 a.m., 3 days a week (Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays); $150
June 18th – July 12th (no camp on July 4)
Performance date: Saturday, July 14 at 10 a.m.
Musical: A Barnyard Moosical
In A Barnyard Moosical, a hilarious and imaginative mini-musical, we meet a unique and talented group of animals living at this unusual farm.
10 students minimum/25 maximum

Stage Stars School Age Jr.: Ages 7-10, 10 to 10:45 a.m., 3 days a week (Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays); $150
June 18th – July 12th (no camp on July 4)
Performance date: Saturday, July 14 at 12 p.m.
Musical: It’s A Jungle Out There
King Leo is a victim of the corporate jungle! He has money, power, and fame, but he still has not found happiness. His trusty servants, Spot and Stripes, ever loyal to the King, begin a quest for the key to happiness. Do the monkeys have the answer? Or maybe the hyenas? Perhaps the secret lies with the elephants. Who knows?
10 students minimum/25 maximum

Stage Stars School Age Sr.: Ages 11-14, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Mondays through Thursdays; $350
June 18th – July 12th (no camp on July 4)
Lunch break is included; students need to provide their own meals and drinks
Performance date: Saturday, July 14 at 2 p.m.
Musical: Adventures of a Comic Book Artist
Hysterical singing superheroes and dancing villains bring to life this action-packed musical spoof of the comic book genre.
15 students minimum/40 maximum.

Summer Dance Classes

The Portage Parks Department and instructor Mary Chandler are offering summer dance classes. The classes are held at 2100 Willowcreek Road in Portage.

6 week Ballroom/Latin Beginners: July 2, 6:30 p.m.
Workshops – June 11 through August 27. Pick and choose the dances of your choice; Chacha, Foxtrot, Rumba, Waltz, Salsa, Merengue and more.  Register by June 8.
Kids and Adult Dance Camps – Kids Camp:  June 23, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Shall We Dance Camp (Adults):  July 29, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Dance Party Camp (Adults): August 11, 5 to 10 p.m.

Purdue Calumet Riley Child Center accepting applications for summer camp

The Purdue University Calumet Charlotte R. Riley Child Center is registering children, ages 3 to 6, for its second annual Summer Enrichment Camp.

The eight-week program begins June 11 and features a different learning theme each week: Summer Art Alive, Pond Life Observers, Backyard Scientists, Celebrations Around Us, Mud and Sand Exploration, Water Works and Obstacle Course Fun. The final week features a family picnic.
