Registration now open for the Opportunity Enterprises Mudathlon Team

Opportunity Enterprises is seeking runners of all abilities to join its 2012 Mudathlon Team, which will complete the race on Saturday, July 21 at the Graeber Family Farms in Valparaiso.  Opportunity Enterprises will receive a $10 donation for every person who registers for the team.

Polka Dot Parties with Carol

Polka Dot Parties with Carol will continue for both adults and young adults with sessions on digital scrapbooking on Wednesdays, June 13 and 27.  Adults and young adults are invited to separate sessions at the Thomas Library, 200 W. Indiana Ave., Chesterton, in the Bertha Wood meeting room. 

The adult sessions will take place from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  Young adults will meet that same day from 1 to 2:30 p.m.  Registration for each program is required. Materials are provided by the library. Carol Walsh will once again lead the crafting sessions. 

Digital scrapbooking brings scrapbooking into the technological age by using digital media software. Polka Dot Party attendees will learn to make cards, scrapbooks, calendars and wall art.  Those who have digital pictures to include may bring them along on a thumb drive.  Attendees are encouraged to bring a thumb drive to save their projects and continue or complete them at home.

United Way announces new partnerships with area golf courses

United Way of Porter County is announcing a new partnership with six local golf courses:  The Course at Aberdeen, The Brassie Golf Club, Creekside Golf Course, Duck Creek Golf Course, Forest Park Golf Course and River Pointe Country Club.

It’s a Girl’s World Science Club at Hageman Library

Girls in grades 4 – 6 are invited to a brand new science club at Hageman Library.  It’s a Girl’s World will take place on Thursdays from July 12 through September 27 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. at the library, 100 Francis Street, Porter.  Registration is required as the class is limited to 12.  All materials will be provided by the library.
