Holiday Closings and Changes

All license branches of Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) will be closed Wednesday, July 4 in observance of the Independence Day holiday.  All license branches will resume normal business hours on Thursday, July 5.

The Porter County Public Libraries also will be closed on Wednesday, July 4. This includes Valparaiso, Portage, South Haven, Kouts and Hebron branches. Regular hours will resume on Thursday, July 5.

The City of Hobart Public Works Department will also be closed on the Fourth of July holiday.  Trash collection for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday will be delayed one day. 

Get to Know Your Chamber

The chamber will present an overview of the web-based tools, marketing opportunities and networking events that it offers to its members and the Duneland communities which it serves. 

Sunrise Seminars, held the first Thursday of each month at Riley’s Railhouse, are free and open to both chamber members and the general public.

Movie Night at South Haven Library

The movie, “Journey 2:  The Dangerous Island,” will be shown Wednesday, July 11 at 6:30 p.m. at the South Haven Public Library, 403 W. 700 North, in Valparaiso. Free. Learn to Draw at Thomas Library

Adults and young adults are invited to six separate sessions of drawing instruction with Donna Krizek at the Thomas Library, 200 W. Indiana Ave., Chesterton, in the Bertha Wood meeting room.

Krizek, a scholarship graduate of the American Academy of Art in Chicago, has been drawing and painting for over 37 years.  Her artwork can be seen in “The Best of Drawing, Light and Shadow,” and “Fresh Perspectives” volumes in the North Light Books “Strokes of Genius”. Her artwork is also included in the collections of the U.S.  Department of the Interior, National Agriculture Center and Hall of Fame and the AKC Museum of the Dog.
