Porter County Community Foundation Announces Recipients of Community Grants

Hilltop Neighborhood House was one of 12 nonprofit organizations that were awarded Community Grants in the first grant cycle of 2012 from the Porter County Community Foundation. Hilltop Executive Director Jennifer Wright (right) and Hilltop preschoolers accepted the grant check from Foundation Vice President Brenda Sheetz.

The Porter County Community Foundation recently awarded $98,800 in grants to 11 local nonprofit organizations.

The recipients of the second round of 2012 Community Fund grants are Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County, Call-A-Ride, Dayspring Women’s Center, Dunebrook, Family House, Gabriel’s Horn, HealthLinc, Housing Opportunities, Jacob’s Ladder, Valparaiso Family YMCA and Visiting Nurse Association of Porter County.

“It is thanks to the incredible generosity of our donors and the dedication of our nonprofit partners that we are able to invest back into our community,” said Barb Young, Porter County Community Foundation president.

Last year, the foundation provided more than $1.9 million in scholarships and grants to nonprofit organizations.  “We believe that good things happen when we all come together and work to achieve our shared vision for a community – where everyone has the opportunity to achieve their full potential,”  Young said,

Porter County Community Foundation has also helped to support Opportunity Enterprises’ capital campaign, Build OE Lakeside. Foundation President Barb Young recently presented the grant check to Opportunity Enterprises Interim CEO Ellen DeMartinis at the site of a new building at Lakeside.
