Students earn silver and gold at state competition

Porter County students brought home the gold—and silver—from the state SkillsUSA competition held recently in Indianapolis.

Hayden Radigan, a senior at Valparaiso High School, placed first in the Electronics Technology competition while Tate Kwiecinski, a senior at Chesterton High School, earned the silver medal for second place. Radigan also qualified for the national Electronics Technology competition in Kansas City, Mo. in June.

In the Architectural Drafting competition, Kristen Buth, a senior at Boone Grove High School, took home the silver medal.

While at SkillsUSA, Radigan earned the SET certification, as did Nicholas Keleman, a junior at Washington Township High School.

 Radigan, Kwiecinski and Keleman study Electronics & Computer Technology with instructor Dave Kenning at the Porter County Career and Technical Center. Buth studies CAD & Animation II with teacher Bill Guinee at the Career Center.
