A painting by Jodi Nix
In celebration of Mother’s Day, the May art exhibit at The Village Gallery in Valparaiso will feature mother-daughter duo Jodi and Allison Nix.
For both women, artistic creativity started early in their lives. Their personal artwork reflects their individual journeys, as they discovered new techniques, methods and mediums.
Jodi’s works have moved from sculpture and photo realism paintings to a more contemporary style featuring abstract landscapes. Focusing on pattern and color, Allison has found her artistic niche in two- and three-dimensional works that gravitate toward nature. Both women are also art teachers at Chesterton High School.
The Village Gallery at Pines Village Retirement Communities is located at 3303 Pines Village Circle (off Calumet Avenue, just north of Cumberland Crossing) in Valparaiso. The gallery is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. There is no admission charge. For more information, call 219-465-1591.
