The Portage Lions Club recently donated $1,200 to the Portage Township Food Pantry. The money was raised through a fundraiser the Lions held in conjunction with Nelson’s Port-A-Pit Chicken.

The pantry, which is located in the back of Neighbors New Vistas Educational Opportunities Center at 5391 Central Ave., serves residents of Portage Township who meet federal income guidelines.

Hours of operation are the first, third and fourth Fridays of each month from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the second Thursday of the month from 4 to 7 p.m.  Any donations of fresh produce from local gardeners would be very much appreciated and can be brought to the pantry during open times.
