Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) named Forrest “Dusty” Rhode Portage Club member Sanja Kirova and South Haven Club member Taylor Clemens national winners in its 12th Annual Digital Arts Festivals competition.

Kirova earned top honors for her entry in the Stop Motion Animation and Game Design in the 13-15 age group and Clemens earned top honors for her entry in Stop Motion Animation in the 16-18 age group.

The Animation category asked Boys & Girls Club members to create their own stop-motion animated short story depicting how one person or group of people can positively change a community.

Their trip included studio tours, hands-on digital career experiences and talks with studio executives.

Kirova’s entry, entitled “Give A Hand,” showcased how people can help each other and their communities and Clemens’ entry, entitled “Colors,” emphasized community and a sense of belonging.

The Game Design Category asked club members to create their own computer-generated game with an underlying message that is designed to standing up against bullying. Kirova’s winning design is entitled “Driving Change.”

As national winners in the teen division, Kirova and Clemens, along with teen winners from all six competition categories, received an expenses-paid trip to Los Angeles in July.
