VHS student Madeline Blaney presents Carlos Rivero and Elena Jambrina from Don Quijote Restaurant with a gift from Chile

Valparaiso High School student Madeline Blaney and recent VHS graduate Nicole Pniak were the 2014 recipients of the Don Quijote Education Fund awards.

Blaney traveled to Chile as a part of the Indiana University Honors Program in Foreign Languages where she spent several weeks living with a Chilean family.  Pniak took advantage of a school-sponsored trip to Spain.

Carlos Rivero, restaurant owner and community leader, was instrumental in creating the education fund to promote and develop Spanish language and cultural enrichment for high school students through study or travel.
