Art teachers Wanda Rice and Paua Wiese display two of their students’ bowls, which will be sold at the benefit luncheon on April 25.

The Empty Bowls project, a dual effort on the part of the Portage High School art department and members of Holy Cross and St. Peter Lutheran churches, will be returning this spring in support of the Portage Township Food Pantry.

The public is invited to the Portage High School West cafeteria on Saturday, April 25, from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. to enjoy a delicious bowl of homemade chili or soup donated by church members. Members of the Portage ROTC will be assisting with the serving.

The price of a bowl of soup and a soft drink is $5. For an extra $5, you may choose from a large selection of beautiful ceramic bowls created by Portage High School art students. As no two of these bowls are alike, this is an opportunity to acquire a truly unique piece of art.
