The Portage Township Food Pantry, located at 3484 Airport Rd., recently received a grant of nearly $9,000 from The Porter County Community Fund.

This generous gift enabled the pantry to purchase several equipment items necessary for its ongoing operation. Among these are a refrigerator, large shopping carts, cabinets, power cords, and a computer. Members of our community, along with churches, businesses, and organizations have been a continual blessing to the pantry, enabling it to continue in its mission of feeding the many needy families in our township.

The pantry, which is located in the back of Neighbors New Vistas Educational Opportunities, serves residents of Portage Township who qualify under its income guidelines and become certified by the Portage Township Trustee.
