Party in the Park VIP Night at the Ice features many exciting previews of Valpo’s newest recreation spot – Central Park Plaza Ice Skating. The winter venue sneak peek takes place Saturday, Nov. 14 from 5 to 8 p.m., as a fundraiser to benefit Valpo Parks Foundation.  This first-look at Valpo’s ice rink begins with warm-ups and a performance on the newly laid ice under the William E. Urschel Pavilion.  There are a total of six performers who hail from Midwest Training and Ice Center in St. John, including Bob Brown.  Brown has over twenty-five years of skating experience, has competed at Adult Nationals, and performed in many Chicagoland ice shows. Other performers include Meghan Bateman, Daisy Broling, Anya Fitzpatrick, Kristine Neumeyer, and Stephanie Peters.  Peters is the 2012 National Solo Dance Gold Pattern Champion and is the figure skating director at Midwest Training and Ice Center.  Bateman, Broling, Fitzpatrick, and Neumeyer train at Midwest and other Chicagoland area rinks.  These four girls compete in freestyle and solo dance competitions. They will also perform a second time before the end of the event.  The Valpo Parks Foundation is excited to have these talented ice skaters be the first to utilize the new ice emblazoned with Valpo Parks logo and the William E. Urschel Pavilion name.

Guests will also enjoy ice sculptor demonstrations as they arrive; live acoustic music by Chris & Lou under the event tent on Lafayette Street; catering and cash bar by Stack’s Restaurant; tours of the Indiana Beverage Activity Center, which is also the ice skate rental hub and warming area.  Guests also have the opportunity to ice skate at 7 p.m.
