Summer is here and the volunteers and kitties of the Independent Cat Society (ICS) have some fun things planned.

• June Adoption Promotion

Real Men Love Cats!  In honor of Father’s Day, and in partnership with the Best Friends No More Homeless Pets Network, ICS wants to make more “Cat Dads” in June.  Through June 30, adoption fees are $75 for the first cat, and only $10 for a second cat.  All cats are spayed/neutered, fully vaccinated, and more, before they are adopted.

• Adoption Day at Pet Supplies Plus in Portage

Saturday, June 18from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Come out and meet ICS volunteers and a cat or 2 at Pet Supplies Plus at 6030 Central Ave Suite A, in Portage.

• Lakeshore Paws Pup Crawl

Saturday, June 18from5 to 10 p.m.

The cats are crashing the Pup Crawl!  While there won’t be any cats attending, ICS will have a booth at the Pup Crawl with ICS merchandise, information and a raffle for a FitBit Alta. Visit our booth at Central Park, 68 Lafayette St., in Valparaiso.

• LaPorte Jaycees Arts and Crafts Festival

Saturday, June 25 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

ICS will have a booth at this festival, held behind the LaPorte Farmers Market on State and Monroe, with ICS merchandise and information.

• Eyes on the Pies

Saturday, July 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The second annual Eyes on the Pies event will be held at the ICS shelter.  There will be pies, other baked goods, ICS merchandise, and more for sale to raise funds for medical care for ICS kitties, especially those with eye problems, like Meena, pictured here, who had her eye removed due to an infection.

• AFCA & Dunes Cat Club Championship and Household Pet Cat Show

Saturday, Aug. 20 and Sunday, Aug. 21 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

ICS will have a booth at this show held at the Radisson Star Plaza, 800 E. 80th Ave., in Merrillville.  More details coming soon on the ICS website and Facebook page.

The Independent Cat Society is a no-kill cat shelter and, as a not-for-profit 501(c)(3), is funded almost entirely through membership fees, adoption fees, fundraising events, and the generous tax-deductible gifts of caring individuals, like you. The shelter is operated primarily by volunteers and does not receive any government funding.
