United Way of Porter County and Neighbors’ Educational Opportunities invites the public to the inaugural Porter County Volunteer Fair on Saturday, June 10.

More than 20 nonprofit programs and organizations from across Northwest Indiana will be present to talk about their volunteer needs and community impact.

“We work with these nonprofits daily to sustain a thriving community,” said Kim Olesker, United Way of Porter County president and CEO. “But we could not do what we do without a robust volunteer force. They are the glue that holds our community together.”

A few of the many participating programs and organizations include American Red Cross, AmeriCorps, Covering Kids and Families of Healthy Communities, Jacob’s Ladder Pediatric Rehabilitation, New Creation Business Advocates, St. Agnes Adult Day Service Center and United Way Regional Volunteer Center.

“As the only countywide volunteer fair, it brings together nonprofits and everyday individuals to make a positive impact in their community,” Rebecca Reiner, executive director of Neighbors’ Education Opportunities (NEO). “This event is perfect for families, college and high school students, retired seniors and anyone else looking for a way to give back in Northwest Indiana.”

The fair is free and will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at NEO’s new location at 5201 U.S. 6 in Portage. All residents are invited to attend. The event is supported by Serve Indiana AmeriCorps grant program.
