Family Nature Walks

Get the entire family outdoors. There is always something new to observe and appreciate in nature. A Lake County Parks naturalist will lead you through the trails of the nature preserve and point out its fascinating flora and fauna. We can’t think of a better way to learn about the natural and cultural history of our area while enjoying time outdoors.

Monthly Saturday Family Nature Walks will be guided by a Lake County Parks through the trails of the Gibson Woods Nature Preserve located at 6201 Parrish Ave., Hammond.  Walks are Saturday’s on August 20, September 17, and Ocotober 15 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Walks are free, but please sign up at 219-844-3188.  From I/80-94 take Cline Ave., north to the169th exit, travel west to Parrish then north to the Gibson Park.
