This year’s Easter event helped Taltree welcome their most visitors in a day.

Taltree Arboretum & Gardens, 450 West, 100 North in Valparaiso, will be holding their first member appreciation picnic on Friday, July 23 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in their sidetrack area. Members will gain free admission, while non-member admission will be $10.

Visitors are encouraged to come in honor of Taltree’s members while enjoying a hot dog lunch provided by Valpo Viennas, yard games, guided tours of the arboretum and other outdoor activities. The Taltree animals, such as Shadow the goat, will be present to show appreciation for the members, along with the Porter County Animal Shelter with possibly some adoptable dogs.

Visitors who have an interest in automotive will be able to enjoy a car show by the Crown Point Corvette Club and the Winamac Car Club.

“We’d like to show our gratitude to our members with an afternoon of family fun,” Taltree Arboretum & Gardens executive director Stephanie Blackstock said. “Taltree is here today and continuously growing because of our supporters. Our members believe in our mission and have a passion for what we do. We couldn’t ask for anything more.”
