Duneland Ski Club now pen for membership

Duneland Ski Club of Northwest Indiana is open for membership as of July 17.  New officers have been elected and installed and a full schedule of ski trips has been set up.

New officers include Bill Leavitt (president), Bill Stover (vice president), JoAnn Cleek (treasurer), Jean Gassoway (secretary), and board members  Mary Golding, Kim Hart-Zaijcek, Allan Nalbor and Cheryl Wytovich.  New winter ski trip leaders are Charlie Cleek (Western Trips) and Pete Resetar (Midwest Trips).

Ski trips planned so far for 2017-18 include Sun Valley, Idaho; Steamboat, Colo.; and Shuss Mountain, Mich.  At least one more Midwestern trip and one or more one-day drive-up trips are in planning stages.

Other upcoming activities include a chili cook-off and memorial bike ride in October and Christmas party in December. On Wednesday nights, members of the club ride bikes, hike or skate along the bike trail starting at Countryside Park on Route 6 in Portage (meet at 6 p.m.).

Duneland Ski Club is a member of the Chicago Metropolitan Ski Council and the Indiana Ski Council.
