On Saturday, March 3, the Independent Cat Society (ICS) invites cat lovers and all around animal lovers to come join them at the Valparaiso Moose Lodge for a fun filled day of food and games from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The event will feature ten kitties who make up eight sweetheart teams, each offering their own unique crafts and other items available for sale at their voting booths to support their candidate. There will be a gourmet lunch as well as baked goods, and ICS merchandise available for purchase. Every purchase at the event counts as a vote towards a sweetheart.

Each year, ICS hosts its Sweetheart event in order to raise funds as well as awareness for kitties in the surrounding communities. So many cats for one reason or another are left out in the world to fend for themselves; ICS is one of those special places that provide them a second chance. However, ICS cannot do it without the help of the community. All donations raised will directly benefit the many cats in need that come to the ICS shelter from all over Northern Indiana.

To find out more information about the ICS shelter or Sweetheart event, visit www.catsociety.org. If you are interested in donating in some other way, ICS is always in need of supplies and volunteers. For more information and donations call at 219-785-4936, during adoption hours every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

The Independent Cat Society is a no-kill cat shelter and, as a not-for-profit 501(c)(3), is funded almost entirely through membership fees, adoption fees, fundraising events, and the generous tax-deductible. The shelter is operated primarily by volunteers and does not receive any government funding.
