Young Leaders United invites the community to join them on Saturday, June 23 for United Way Family Fun Field Day & Volunteer Fair at Sunset Hill Farm County Park.

Now in its third year, the event was developed to provide an affordable family fun activity for individuals to learn more about the nonprofit services available to them in the community.

“We’re proud of our Young Leaders for taking the lead on this project,” said Kim Olesker, president & CEO of United Way of Porter County. “These young professionals service is an inspiration.”

The event will have more than 20 activities including a volunteer fair, crafts, animals and games, such as tug-of-war, obstacle courses and relays. Participating nonprofits include American Red Cross, Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest Indiana, Food Bank of Northwest Indiana, Girls on the Run, Gabriel’s Horn Homeless Shelter, Hilltop Neighborhood House, Neighbor’s Educational Opportunities (NEO) and The Salvation Army.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch. Blue Chip Casino and Kona Ice food trucks will be onsite. Live music will be provided by Erly and Counter Theory. The event is made possible by the support of Metro Recycling, Wayne Enterprises, Lakeshore Public Media and The Times of Northwest Indiana.

The event runs from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Sunset Hill Farm County Park in Valparaiso. Children are free. Adults are $5. Participating nonprofits are offering an admission coupon to help defer attendance cost for those in need. Entry fee and a portion of food sales will be donated to United Way of Porter County to support needy families.

Young Leaders United is a professional networking group of more than 100 members dedicated to giving back to their community. The program is supported by NITCO. For more information about Young Leaders United and United Way Field Day and Picnic, visit www.unitedwaypc.org.
