Fourth of July Events Around Region- Fourth of July Parades, Fireworks and Other Celebrations

Here is a listing of Fourth of July parades, fireworks, and other related celebrations around Northwest Indiana, listed by community.

CHESTERTON– The Duneland Chamber of Commerce will sponsor the 10th annual Fireworks on the Lakefront event on Monday, July 2 at Indiana Dunes State Park, starting at dusk. Food vendors will be on hand. There is a fee for entering the state park.

CROWN POINT– The city’s holiday parade begins at 2:00 p.m., going north on Main Street. Fireworks will be held at dusk at Lake County Fairgrounds.

HEBRON– The town will hold fireworks on Tuesday, July 3 at dusk at Hebron High School. The community’s holiday parade begins at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 4, with a flag-raising ceremony at Main and Sigler streets. The Turtle Derby begins at noon at 1st Source Bank.

HOBART– The Hobart Family YMCA will sponsor the Brickyard Run at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 4. This city’s holiday parade begins at 10:00 a.m. on July 4. Later in the day, festivities continue at Festival Park, starting at 6:00 p.m. with a concert and food. Fireworks begin at dusk.

LAKE STATION– This community’s Fourth of July parade begins at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 3 from Columbus Park to DeKalb Street, down Central Avenue and ending at Pike Street. Fireworks begin Wednesday, July 4 at dusk from Riverview Park. The program includes music and food vendors.

LAPORTE– The LaPorte Jaycees’ fireworks events will take place on Tuesday, July 3 at LaPorte County Fairgrounds. Gates open at 7:00 p.m., with fireworks around 9:30. Food vendors will be available. This city’s holiday parade begins at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 4 and goes through downtown  LaPorte.

MERRILLVILLE– The annual Independence Day Festival will be held Tuesday, July 3 at Hidden Lake Park, which opens at 8:00 a.m. Food vendors open at 1:00 p.m. and a beer garden opens at 6:00 p.m. Live entertainment will perform, with fireworks around 9:30 p.m. The town’s holiday parade kicks off at noon on Wednesday, July 4, proceeding along Broadway.

MICHIGAN CITY– A holiday parade will be held Saturday, June 30, beginning at 11:00 a.m. from 10th Street. Fireworks begin at dusk on Wednesday, July 4 from the Washington Park Marina on the lakefront.

PORTAGE– The city’s holiday parade kicks off from Nativity of Our Savior Church along Willowcreek Road at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 4. A holiday festival takes place later that day from 5:00 to 9:30 p.m. at Founders Square. That includes live music from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., with fireworks at dusk.

PORTER– Family 4th of July Fest activities take place from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. at Hawthorne Park. A Lions Club pancake breakfast runs 7:00 to 11:30 a.m., with the holiday parade beginning at 9:00 a.m. Other activities include a turtle derby, children’s patriotic post contest, kids’ games and rides, rock climbing, bounce houses, and laser tag. There will also be a beer garden and live music, with fireworks at dusk.

SCHERERVILLE– Fireworks take place at Rohrman Park on Tuesday, July 3. Activities at the park run from 5:00 to 10:00 p.m. Groups such as the Schererville Lions Club and the town’s park department will be selling concessions and other items.

SOUTH HAVEN– American Legion Post 502 will lead a parade starting at 4:00 p.m. from Saylor School on Wednesday, July 4, with the review stand at South Haven Elementary School.

VALPARAISO– Holiday festivities on Wednesday, July 4 include music, food, and other activities starting at 6:00 p.m. at Urschel Field at Valparaiso Street and Vale Park Road. Fireworks begin at dusk. Activities begin that day with the Fourth of July Blast 5K at 7:30 a.m. from Foundation Meadows Park.

WANATAH– The Wanatah Chamber of Commerce and American Legion Koselke-Mayfield Post will co-sponsor several family-oriented events on Saturday, July 7, including the Hawg Creek duck race, and barbecue dinner. After fireworks at dusk, the American Legion hall will host a dance for those over 21.
