In January, Ideas in Motion Media will welcome their new Editorial Director, Stacey Kellogg. With a BA in Professional Writing from Purdue University, and more than 20 years in the journalism, writing, editing, and public relations fields, Kellogg brings a seasoned perspective to the team, but looks forward to a new experience as well.

Kellogg is a Michigan City native and now lives in Valparaiso. She began her career as a journalist after college in the mid-1990s, and has since worked in public relations in the tourism and healthcare industries in Northwest Indiana. She also has maintained a robust freelance writing and public relations consulting career. When she isn’t doing that, Kellogg is hiking, backpacking, kayaking, enjoying craft beer, hanging and laughing hysterically with her awesome parents and two sisters, and loving life with her closest friends – sometimes, all of this at once.

In her new role as editorial director, Kellogg will lead the content, core, coverage, and student teams, set editorial standards and guidelines, and collaborate on team development and content creation and format. The job, she said, presents an opportunity to be part of a driving force for positivity in the region.

“The way we get news today is drastically different than when I was working as a journalist. But at the same time, I’m encouraged and excited by one particular aspect: we have a choice when we’re online,” Kellogg said. “Ideas in Motion Media is our communities’ premier good news driver, giving us an unprecedented choice deep-dive into optimism and everything that is incredible about our region and those who live here. I cannot think of a better next step in my career than to be part of keeping the community informed in a way that no other organization does.”

Chris Mahlmann, founder of Ideas in Motion Media, said the entrepreneurial spirit and philosophy of the team is what keeps the organization moving forward.

“Our team has grown tremendously since starting this crazy good news mission 10 years ago. Today, our readers trust us and depend upon us to bring a positive perspective to the communities where we live, work, and play,” Mahlmann said. “Adding a seasoned editorial veteran like Stacey will build on our traditions while raising the bar even higher on the quality of our content, the mentoring of our Lifers, and the development of unique story telling formats.”

Adding Kellogg to the team caps a surge of deliberate and strategic talent recruitment across multiple specialties: editorial, video, partner management, and technology. “In the first quarter of 2019, we’ll launch a massive new publishing upgrade across our websites, social media, and mobile platforms that has us jacked to start our tenth season,” Mahlmann said.

Jenny Craig-Brown, Executive Team Leader at Ideas In Motion Media said, “I have seen this team grow and change over the years to be one incredible group of people that truly care about Life. Stacey is certain to be an exciting addition to this amazing team that will take us to the next level and make 2019 the best year yet!”

Kellogg invites the community to connect with her on LinkedIN, Facebook under username: Stacey Kellogg – Storyteller, and Instagram. But for the real scoop, connect with the inspiring content created by the entire Lifer team online and across social channels at Valpolife.com, PortageLife.com, LaPorteCountyLife.com, and NWIndianaLife.com.
