Happy Mother’s Day

This coming weekend we celebrate moms everywhere. If you’re still searching for that last-minute Mother’s Day gift for the mom in your life, look no further. TopCashback.com is sharing their Mother’s Day survey results and found 49 percent of moms value spending time together over and above anything you could put a bow on.

With 89 percent of Americans planning on celebrating Mother’s Day this year, 43 percent plan on spending $50 or less and 36 percent plan on spending $51 to $100.

The survey polled a cross-section of 1,361 adults, aged 18 and over, on their purchasing habits for the second Sunday of May. Below, are some additional insight from the survey:

What Mom Really Wants on Her Special Day:

  • Spending quality time with the kids (49 percent)
  • Breakfast, lunch and/or dinner (36 percent)
  • Greeting card/acknowledgment they’re a great mom (26 percent)
  • A break from the mom routine (25 percent)
  • Experience (spa, concert, etc.) (24 percent)

Americans Plan to Gift Mom:

  • Flowers (36 percent)
  • Breakfast, lunch and/or dinner (32 percent)
  • Greeting card/acknowledging their doing a good job (26 percent)
  • Gift card (21 percent)
  • Clothes/shoes (21 percent)

TopCashback.com also found that 2 in 5 Americans (40 percent) check with their siblings before purchasing a gift for mom to ensure they don’t purchase similar gifts (46 percent), to go half and half on a gift (25 percent) and to get ideas (23 percent).

In addition to celebrating the special moms in our lives, Americans also choose to celebrate the moms they see on the small screen. With participants naming the following top three TV moms as the ones who are most like their real-life moms:

  • Kitty Forman from ‘That ‘70s Show’ (20 percent)
  • Wilma Flinstone from ‘The Flintstones’ (16 percent)
  • Vivian Banks from ‘The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air’ (13 percent)

While a mom’s love can not be bought, 58 percent of moms confessed to faking their reactions when receiving a gift they don’t love.

Top 3 go-to fake reactions:

  • This is great. Thank you! (29 percent)
  • Thank you! (25 percent)
  • I love it! (25 percent)
