Following is a listing of free concerts and outdoor movies in Northwest Indiana, listed by community.


Portage Township Live Entertainment, Greater Porter Chamber of Commerce, and the city of Portage present the Portage Summer Music Series at two sites: outdoors at Founders Square Park’s Indiana-American Water Pavilion, 6300 Founders Square, and indoors at Woodland Park’s Oakwood Hall, 2100 Willowcreek Rd. Call 219-762-1675 for more details.

All concerts are free, but donations of nonperishable items are accepted for the Portage Food Pantry and Gabriel’s Horn Shelter. Founders Square Park concerts run Sundays, 3:00 to 10:00 p.m.; Woodland Park concerts run Tuesdays, 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Bring a chair or blanket to Founders Square Park, while seating is provided and concessions are sold at Woodland Park.

In conjunction with Hobart’s Summer Market on the Lake, the free concert series at Revelli Bandshell in Festival Park runs Thursdays, May 30 through Aug. 29, starting at 7:00 p.m. Bring a lawn chair or blanket. Call the Hobart Park Department at 219-942-2987 for more information.

Westchester Public Library sponsors the free summer concert series and movies. The program runs Fridays through July 26, with concerts starting at 7:00 p.m., followed at dusk by the movies.

Nearly all the concerts and movies will take place at Thomas Centennial Park, 220 Broadway in Chesterton; the July 26 concert and movie take place at Hawthorne Millennium Park on Ackerman Drive in Porter. Call 219-926-7696 to learn more.

The Coffee Creek Concert Series takes place Thursdays at the Coffee Creek Watershed Preserve Amphitheater, 178 E Sidewalk Rd., Chesterton, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. Admission is free and complimentary coffee is available. Bring a lawn chair. Call 219-921-5200 to learn more.
