The Family & Youth Services Bureau is providing needed information about the nature and solutions to the ongoing problems facing teens in Porter County through a series of workshops in 2020.

Each workshop is focused on helping youth, parents, and all community members move their lives in healthy directions.

The next Beyond the Influence Workshop is “Teen Health – How to Empower Our Youth” from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10.  This workshop will be geared towards teens and those who live and work with them.  It will address methods in which to empower teens to make healthy life choices, bullying, risky behaviors, methods to identify self-worth, and other relevant topics focused on teen health.  It will be led by Dezimon Alicia, the Director of Community Engagement at PATH (Positive Approach to Teen Health).

The Porter County Substance Abuse Council has funded, in part, grant dollars for this program.

The workshops are held at the FYSB office in downtown Valparaiso at 253 W. Lincolnway.  There is no fee to attend these workshops, but space is limited so RSVP early if you want to attend.  Refreshments of cookies, coffee, and lemonade are provided at each workshop.  Seating is limited; if you want to attend the workshop on Tuesday, March 10th, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. please RSVP with your name and contact information by March 6, to 219-464-9585 or to
