The Valparaiso Family YMCA announces it will reopen on Tuesday, May 26, with Y Child Care is available as early as May 11. The reopening will be conducted under the guidance of state and local health authorities and will take place in phases. Details about reopening phases may be found at valpoymca.org.

“We are thrilled to begin reopening our facilities, welcoming back our members and the community, and getting back to what we do best – helping everyone reach their full potential,” said Bob Wanek, CEO, Valparaiso Family YMCA.

According to Wanek, the first phase of reopening will include programs for youth. These include

Fun Days – Available for school-age youth from May 11 through May 29. The Y is offering a safe place for care, structured activity and facilitating E-Learning. Pre-registration is required. To enroll your child, contact the Y Child Care office at kridinger@valpoymca.org or 219-464-9543.

Summer Preschool Enrichment – Available beginning June 1, for children ages 3-5. This summer’s theme is “Exploring the World.” Activities include walking field trips and splash pad. Pre-registration is required. To enroll your child, contact Y Child Care at sblanche@valpoymca.org or 219-464-9543.

Summer Camp – Registration is now open for summer camp, scheduled to begin June 1. Camp information and new safety protocol, along with registration forms, can be found at valpoymca.org/summercamp.

Youth Summer Sports – Registration is now open for summer youth programs, including a new outdoor soccer league, track and field, sports clinics, preschool dance and swim lessons. Visit valpoymca.org to learn more and to register your child.

“When we closed our facilities in March, we did so to protect the health and well-being of all our staff, volunteers, members and participants. As we now reopen our facilities, we do so with that same commitment to keeping everyone who enters our doors safe,” said Wanek.
