Gabis Arboretum at Purdue Northwest in Valparaiso has reopened. Daily hours are 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Admission is currently free.
The arboretum’s 300 acres provide ample opportunity to explore nature while maintaining a safe distance from others. Visitors are invited to bring a picnic, hiking shoes or find a comfy tree to curl up with a good book.
Until further notice, the trails are open for hiking, but Gabis’ facilities remained closed. Any high touch areas, including the Railway Garden, also remain closed. Portable restrooms are located on site near the Depot and parking lot.
Admission will remain free until such time that the arboretum can establish a safe method for collecting fees. The nature is located at 444 W. 100 North, Valparaiso..
