MACU President Frank Beachnau presents donation to Steady Stitchers

As part of its ongoing efforts to support the local community, Members Advantage Credit Union (MACU) donated $500 to the Steady Stitchers.

The Steady Stitchers, a Michigan City based nonprofit organization, operates through volunteers who use their sewing and knitting skills to create projects that help local residents. Donated finances and fabric are used to make afghans and hats for preemies; backpacks, hats, scarves, and mittens for the homeless; walker and wheelchair totes, and more.

MACU president Frank Beachnau said, “One of the joys of running a credit union is the opportunity to build into our local community. Through the Steady Stitchers, we are able to assist fellow residents who are struggling and those who simply need a helping hand. We are honored to be able to play a small role in what the Steady Stitchers are doing.”

To find out more about the Steady Stitchers or to volunteer your sewing, crocheting, or knitting talents, contact the Purdue Extension Office at 219-324-9407. The Steady Stitchers meet every Monday at “The Studio” located in the basement of the Swanson Activity Center for Older Adults from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Members Advantage Credit Union is a locally managed, nonprofit, full-service financial institution. Membership is available to anyone who lives or works in LaPorte, Porter, or Lake County.
