Here is a listing of Independence Day activities around the area.


Saturday, July 3 – Brickyard Run race, 7:30 a.m. from Eighth St.

Sunday, July 4 – Parade kicks off at noon, starting from Hobart Middle School; Fireworks at dusk from Festival Park.


Sunday, July 4 – Fourth of July Blast 5K and Lit’l Firecracker 2K run/walk, 7:30 a.m. from Central Park Plaza; food, entertainment from Urschel Field, starting at 6:30 p.m.; Fireworks at dusk.


Saturday, July 3 – Parade, starting at 3:00 p.m.

Sunday, July 4 – Fireworks at dusk from Riverview Park


Saturday, July 3 – Parade starting at 10:00 a.m. from Willowcreek Road and Sunrise Avenue; gathering at 5:00 p.m. at Founders Square Park for food, music, and apple pie eating contest, Fireworks at dusk.


Sunday, July 4 – Family Fourth Fest, 7:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Hawthorne Park; parade starts from Yost School at 9:00 a.m.


Saturday, July 3 – Duneland Exchange Club Pinwheel Walk Parade, downtown Chesterton starting at 6:30 p.m. from the Chesterton Middle School (south parking lot).

Wednesday, June 30 – Fireworks on the Lakefront, Indiana Dunes State Park 1600 North 25 East, Chesterton. Food vendors will begin selling at 6:00 p.m. and the fireworks show will begin at 9:15 p.m. Entrance to the Indiana Dunes State Park is $7 per car or $12 per car with an out-of-state license plate.
