State Rep. Michael Aylesworth (R-Hebron) (center, back row) joins fellow legislators as Gov. Eric Holcomb (seated, center) ceremonially signs House Enrolled Act 1006 into law Monday, Aug. 16, 2021, at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in Plainfield. HEA 1006, co-authored by Aylesworth, supports local law enforcement, and boosts accountability and transparency in policing. The law requires full employment record sharing between police departments to identify bad actors, provides additional flexibility to the Indiana Law Enforcement Training Board in order to address significant officer misconduct, and requires de-escalation training for new recruits and current officers.
