The Association of Indiana Counties (AIC) announced that Porter County Auditor Vicki Urbanik received the 2021 Outstanding County Auditor Award. The award recognized her contributions made to county government throughout her years of public service.

Urbanik first took office in January of 2015 and throughout her years as Auditor, she has always been a dependable advisor to the County Council helping to grow and preserve the County’s funds, especially the general fund. She was instrumental in converting the County’s financial and attendance systems, and quickly developed the Porter County Auditor’s office into a great resource for taxing units, department heads, and taxpayers.

Urbanik also won the Association of Government Accountants (AGA) Achievement of the Year, as well as Northwest Indiana’s Up and Coming Woman of the Year Award. She is a CPA, CGFM, Enrolled Agent, and a Level 2 Assessor.

The award was presented during the AIC’s 63rd Annual Conference in Switzerland County last month. The AIC’s Annual Conference is the largest gathering of county officials in the state. Representatives from public agencies, private entities, and local elected officials addressed issues such as cash flow and public funds management, American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), health care, appeals and permitting, redistricting, energy, HR, broadband, highway funding and asset management, and so much more.
