Valparaiso Parks & Recreations Concert Series

The Valparaiso Department of Parks & Recreation is pleased to offer again this year the free Concerts in the Park series, funded by the generous support of individual and corporate sponsors.  All concerts are hosted at 7 p.m. Wednesdays at the Butterfield Family Pavilion, Fairgrounds Park, unless otherwise stated.  Each performance is one hour in length. 

July 21 – Valparaiso Middle School Bands – (held at downtown Courthouse lawn; rain site is Valparaiso High School.)

Portage Summer Music in the Park Series

Portage Township Live Entertainment Association’s 10th season of Portage Summer Music in the Park will be held at Woodland Park, 2100 Willowcreek Rd., every Tuesday through Aug. 24. The schedule is as follows: Aug. 3, My Brother’s Salsa Band; Aug. 10, Quentin Flagg Variety Show; Aug. 17, Larry Spurlock Band – dance band; Aug. 24, new element Celtic & bluegrass.

All concerts are free, and everyone is invited to bring their lawn chairs, blankets, refreshments, and enjoy the show at the gazebo, weather permitting. Chesterton Coffee Creek Watershed Preserve Concert Series

The Coffee Creek Watershed Preserve amphitheater offers audiences a 360-degree panoramic view, and was built to correspond with the natural contour of the land. Guests are shaded from May through September by a composite of shade sails custom-designed for the amphitheater. You need only bring a chair or blanket and any food and non-alcoholic drink items you want, then sit back and enjoy.

On Aug. 21, enjoy the Tommy Thompson Band from 6-9 p.m; Sept. 11, South Shore Brass Band from 6-8 p.m.; and Sept. 18, Misunderstood Band from 6-9 p.m.

The preserve features brick, paved and natural trails up to five miles in length. Playground equipment, picnic shelters and fishing are also available. From the south, take I-65 North to I-94 East to Exit 26-A, southbound. Exit on State Route 49 after approximately two miles. For more information, call 395-5315.
