July 18-23.

The 2010 USA National Games was the largest sporting event held in the history of Nebraska featuring competition in 13 different sports by 3,000 athletes from across the country. The Games also included 1,000 coaches and official delegates, 15,000 family members and friends, 8,000 volunteers and 30,000 spectators.

Team Indiana consisted of more than 100 Hoosier Special Olympics athletes, coaches, Unified partners and support staff. Special Olympics Indiana was honored to send such a large delegation to compete in the second Special Olympics USA National Games.

In fact, while our delegation paraded in during the Opening Ceremony, Special Olympics Indiana was recognized for being one of the best represented Special Olympics Programs in attendance at the Games. Nearly every athlete that attends the Games received a medal, with Team Indiana earning 68 total medals in nine sports.

Every Special Olympics Indiana athlete has an amazing story of courage, determination and triumph to tell. We greatly appreciate your help in sharing some of these stories with the community. It is our hope that by communicating the successes of our participants, we can change the way they are perceived by the world – not as in need of pity, but as extraordinary individuals who should be admired.

Again, thank you for your support and coverage of Team Indiana and for being a fan of Special Olympics Indiana.
