In order for shelter dogs at the LaPorte County Small Animal Shelter and the Michiana Humane Society to put their best paw forward, Dawg N Suds Mobile Grooming is providing free grooming in conjunction with the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and the American Humane Association drive known as “Adopt A Shelter Dog” Month.

Laurie Clark, of Dawg N’ Suds believes that a clean, groomed dog has a much higher chance of being adopted. So she is donating her time and effort in her mobile grooming vehicle to make the pups that are up for adoption look their very best.
“The saddest statistic I’ve ever known is that about 3-4 million pets are being euthanized in shelters every year in the United States,” Clark said. “I feel I should do what I can to reduce that number. Donating my skills to help this cause is one way I can give back to the orphaned pets in LaPorte County.”
The Mobile Grooming for a Cause campaign has been launched and coordinated by Wag’n Tails Mobile Conversions of Granger, the company that manufactures Clark’s mobile grooming van. Like Clark, most of Wag’n Tails 1500 van owners are participating in Mobile Grooming for a Cause all across the country.
“With so many of us participating in Mobile Grooming for a Cause, we should be able to make a big difference in getting more pets adopted this year,” Clark said.
Clark said that having a mobile grooming van allows her to devote 100 percent of her attention to the pet being groomed, and the added convenience is that it all takes place right in the client’s driveways. She said her clients love the convenience of getting their pet groomed at home.
“Since Dawg N Suds is on wheels, it’s just ideal to help out since I can roll into the shelter and groom their pets right there in their parking lot,” Clark added.
The Dawg N Suds van is fully self contained with one tank for fresh water and one for the dirty water to be collected in. It has a bath tub, dryer, grooming table and even a hydro massage bathing system. Clark’s van even makes its own electricity.
“It’s a fully outfitted grooming shop on wheels,” Clark commented.
“I just want to ask anyone interested in adding a pet to their family to please come to one of the shelters and adopt one of their adorable dogs,” Clark said. “They deserve a warm, loving home.”
