The La Porte Hospital Foundation Annual Healthcare Scholarship Golf Tournament swung in more than just a sunny day filled with golf and fun on June 16.

A full field of 144 golfers and countless volunteers displayed their support at Briar Leaf Golf Club in La Porte, raising over $38,000 for student health care scholarships and other philanthropic needs.

“The La Porte Hospital Foundation Golf Tournament is again a success due to the caring involvement of a hard working committee, chaired by board member John Leinweber. We truly appreciate the support of many companies and individuals and Briar Leaf Golf Club for their underwriting and participation,” said Maria Fruth, Foundation Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. “Because of the success of this golf tournament, we are able to provide scholarships to many local students who are pursuing careers in healthcare. Many of these students will return after they complete their education to provide healthcare to residents of our community.”

The tournament, celebrating its twenty-third anniversary, included 18 holes of golf with a cart, hole-in-one opportunities, player favors, lunch, performance by trick shot artist Peter Longo, beverage carts, post-tournament celebration and dinner, tournament awards, a silent auction and an exciting live auction during the post tournament celebration. A special thank you to Mat Blair, Briar Leaf Golf Club Teaching Professional for his assistance at the event.
