Three northwest Indiana universities are hosting a career transition fair for military veterans, service members and their families, Friday at Hammond’s Jean Shepherd Community Center. The fair is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Representatives from dozens of businesses and other organizations will be on hand to discuss hiring opportunities. Admissions staff members from various colleges and universities also will be present to assist those who want to explore college options. A complete list of participating employers and colleges/universities can be accessed at www.pnc.edu/veterans_fair. Attendees are encouraged to bring multiple copies of their resumes. Purdue University Calumet, Purdue University North Central and Ivy Tech Community College of Northwest Indiana are hosting the fair. The Jean Shepherd Community Center is located in Dowling Park in Hammond’s Hessville section, just north of Interstate 80/94 and east of Kennedy Avenue. In addition to the Career Services offices of the three local educational institutions, the Military Family Research Institute, the City of Hammond and its mayor, Thomas McDermott Jr., are supporting the fair.
