The deadline is approaching to register for Valparaiso’s first organized night bike ride. Valpo Parks is offering a fun-filled event where you can tour the city by bike. On Aug. 27, the Valpo Night Ride will give people the opportunity to take a leisurely 15-mile bike ride through Valparaiso starting from the Old Fairgrounds Pavilion and hitting major sights like Rogers-Lakewood Park, the new Central Park Plaza and Valparaiso University. Deadline to register is Aug. 15. Mid-ride stop and snack will be provided as well as a post-ride party so participants may partake in music, food and a chance to relax with other night riders and bicycle enthusiasts. Everyone in the family may participate. Ages 10 and older may ride their own bike with a participating adult. Those under 10 must be on a tandem bicycle or pull-behind unit. All participants must be registered. The fee for registration is $25 for each 10-and-over participant and $20 for each under-10 participant. Register at the Valparaiso Park Dept. Administration Office, 3210 Campbell St., or by telephone using a debit or credit card at 462-5144 or online at www.valpoparks.org.
