Hobart Summer Concerts

Presented at the Festival Park/Revelli Bandshell by the City Improvement Committee; 7 p.m. starts.

Thursday: Jim Forsythe & Friends

Aug. 11: Murray Brothers Band, also Special Main Source Booth

Aug. 18: Lakefront Festival.

Aug. 25: Sinatra Tribute (Jack D’Amico)

Sept. 1: Joshua Holmes, also Visiting Nurse Association to give free blood pressure tests.



Portage Concerts

Through collaboration between the Portage Park Dept, the Portage Chamber of Commerce and Portage Live Entertainment, a 12-concert series of Summer Music in the Park will be presented each Tuesday night from 6-7:30 p.m. in Woodland Park, just south of US 20 in Portage at 2100 Willowcreek Road.

The concerts will usually be outdoors at the Gazebo. In case of rain or high temperatures, the concerts will be indoors. Food and refreshments available for purchase. Music ranges from ’40s and ’50s to rock-and-roll, swing, Celtic, blues, contemporary and a Jimmy Buffet tribute, all featuring local talent.

The concerts are made possible by donations from The John W. Anderson Foundation and the Portage business community. Everyone is invited to bring a lawn chair or blanket, picnic basket, and enjoy the music.

Tuesday: Wolffgang – Hobart HS female choral group, Portage Community Theatre – 2011-12 Season Preview

Aug. 16: Summer Symphony – String orchestras from local schools

Aug. 23: Island 49 – Jimmy Buffett Tribute Show

Aug. 30: AcoustiCats – Acoustic / Blues / Classic Rock


Chesterton Summer Series

Presented through the Westchester Public Library at Thomas Centennial Park, Chesterton, here are the remaining scheduled Friday concerts at 7 p.m.; films at dusk.

Bring the whole family, lawn chairs and a picnic dinner and join your neighbors for an old-fashion concert series featuring a variety of traditional music. Each program is followed by a movie suitable for family viewing. In the event of rain, the concerts and films will take place in the LibraryServiceCenter, 100 W. Indiana Ave, Chesterton.

The concert and film series is partially funded by the Chesterton-Porter Rotary. For more information, call 219-926-7696.

Aug. 12: Good Time, Old Time Music, Pinhook Bogtrotters Family Film: Toy Story 3 (G).


Coffee Creek Summer Concerts

All concerts are free at the Chesterton Amphitheater at Coffee Center. Bringing a lawn chair or blanket. Picnics and other outside food items are allowed. All concerts begin at 6 p.m.

Aug. 20: Tommy Thompson Band

Sept. 11: 9/11 Tribute.
