Outdoor art fair time is once again upon us and the Schoolhouse Shop will be celebrate its 23rd on Saturday, Sept. 17  from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and on Sunday, Sept. 18 from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. on its lovely historical grounds in Furnessville, the quaint village near Chesterton next to the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore Park.

This year promises to be incredible with many new artists joining the favorites from previous years in displaying mediums of all varieties, including a range of watercolor and oil painting, metalworking and pottery, to jewelry and woodworking. Also displayed will be sculpture and weaving, glasswork and photography. There will be 40-plus exhibitors gracing the landscaped scenery. Thought of as “your hidden treasure, the 1886 brick Schoolhouse is the platform for over 6,500 square feet for one stop-refined shopping. There is the Magic Pantry which offers carefully chosen gourmet food specialities, Dunes Clothiers – a boutique for both men and women of discriminating taste and Lake Effect Florals offering flower arrangements for every occasion in addition to a Farmer’s Market.

The art fair has no charge for admission or parking. Santiago’s of Porter will cater lunch on the patio. A wonderful weekend is available with a short excursion to the Schoolhouse Shop. For more information, call Judi Rue at 219-508-7543 or e-mail at rue51@comcast.net.
