VNA of Porter County volunteers recognized

The Visiting Nurse Association of Porter County (VNA) recently celebrated its nearly 500 volunteers during the annual Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast held at the St. Teresa of Avila Student Center in Valparaiso.

Rick Rhew, VNA President and CEO, expressed his appreciation to the volunteers and praised their dedicated service to programs at the VNA, including Meals on Wheels, Lifeline, hospice, children’s bereavement, special events, and various committees. “You think the ‘V’ in VNA stands for ‘Visiting’,” he said, “but it’s really for volunteers who are so vital to our mission.”

Volunteers and organizations were honored for service hour milestones as well as 5, 10 and 15-year awards. Porter Regional Hospital was recognized for 40 years of preparing meals for the VNA Meals on Wheels Program, which began in 1974.
